Âé¶¹Éç is pleased to announce the funded research activities of the 2024 National Housing Research Program. The 2024 program has funded a major Inquiry focused on construction constraints affecting the supply of housing, as well as 14 research projects addressing a wide range of housing system challenges.
Removing barriers for providers key to growing Specialist Disability Accommodation
The Specialist Disability Accommodation program, which delivers specialist housing support for Australians with extreme functional impairment or very high needs, is designed to attract private market investment; however program restrictions are creating a barrier to this investment. While Community Housing Providers are ideally placed to deliver this highly specialised accommodation, some are pausing their involvement due to the level of financial risk they are required to bear, according to new Âé¶¹Éç research.
More ‘rich’ are renting, while low income renters face greater stress
New Âé¶¹Éç research has revealed today that more households with higher incomes are renting and the shortage of private rental homes that are affordable for very low income households has worsened.
